Thirty-one CTE students from TERRA Environmental Research Institute and Miami Springs Senior High School were among thirty-six teams of the country’s most motivated NSL Ten80 teams of Career and Technical Education (CTE), math and science students.  

Trophies and cash prizes were also presented to both schools in other categories, including:

  • Engineering Project: Miami Springs won First Place and TERRA won Second Place
  • Team Presentation: Miami Springs won First Place and TERRA won Third Place
  • Graphic Design: Miami Springs won First Place

ACE Mentoring Program News

The Dade County Affiliate of ACE Mentoring Program coordinated the first annual ACE Student Graduation at Miami Dade College-Kendall Campus. Architecture and Engineering students from Miami Coral Park, North Miami, TERRA, DASH, and Turner Technical Arts senior high schools presented their major architectural designs before VIP guests, Mentor Companies and parents at the graduation ceremony on May 20, 2014.

Special recognition was also given to Miami Coral Park for placing third in the National CIRT/ACE Design Competition in Washington, DC winning $2,000 for their school. DASH High School also won a CIRT national special award of $250 for the “Best Presentation Board."

Eighty students were mentored by various Miami-Dade companies this year through the ACE Mentor Program. Mentors and ACE board member companies: AECOM, Turner Construction, Tutor Perini, Heery International, Perkins+Will, Suffolk Construction, CSA Group, Arquitectonica, RSM ROC & Company.
